Mayor’s Gala Honourary Chairman Terry Johnston

The 2007 Pickering Mayor’s Gala Honourary Chairman embodies both the values of the Gala and the spirit of this year’s ‘Rock ‘n Roll’ theme.

Terry Johnston has been “talking deep and playing the hits” on Durham Radio’s CKDO, Oshawa mornings since 1992. His commitment to the community goes back just as far. He assists approximately 100 charity events, galas and functions each year. In the role of Master of Ceremonies in 2006, he performed at 50 charity golf tournaments, which together raised more than $2.5 million for local organizations vital to our community.

Terry is Chair of the Grandview Children’s Centre Foundation and a committee member for the Abilities Centre Durham Gala, Canadian Cancer Society Relay for Life, Durham Regional Police Children’s Games, Roger Weir Memorial Hockey for Heart Tournament, MADD Durham and the United Way Annual Campaigns.

In addition to his participation in fundraisers for those causes, Terry is also a strong supporter of the Canadian Cancer Society, Heart & Stroke Foundation, Lung Association, Easter Seals, Precious Minds Resource Centre, Oshawa Community Health Centre, Oshawa General Hospital Foundation, Lakeridge Heath Whitby Foundation, Luke’s Place, Terry Fox Foundation, Humane Society of Durham Region, Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation and the Canadian National Institute for the Blind (CNIB).
